Maya Spice Cacao
A traditional spicy drinking chocolate crafted with ancho chile, cayenne, and cinnamon. Indulge in the decadent warmth of our 70% dark single origin Maya Spice Cacao.
Our organic drinking chocolate is handcrafted in small batches from single origin regenerative Ucayali cacao and unrefined coconut sugar. We slow-roast whole cacao beans and stone-grind them into a paste. The paste is then set into blocks of cacao, which we grind into a powder. This uses the whole cacao bean, including the cacao butter, to provide a remarkably smooth, rich and robust drinking chocolate.
Ingredients
Organic Cacao, Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Ancho Chile Pepper, Organic Cayenne Pepper, Organic Cinnamon
Servings
8 oz bag: 6 Servings
16 oz bag: 12 Servings
Servings per container are based on preparation using our recipe below. If you prefer a thinner or lighter drink, your servings per container will increase. Adjust your ratios as you like and see what recipe resonates most with you.
Recipe
Warm 3/4 cup milk of your choice on the stovetop until just before boiling. In a large mug, mix 3 Tbsp cacao with the heated milk. Blend with immersion blender until rich & creamy.
This recipe is for a traditional, thicker drinking chocolate. For a lighter cacao experience, use half the amount of cacao with the same amount of milk (and double your servings per bag).
Our Cacao Sourcing
We direct source our single origin, heirloom cacao from small family farms along the Ucayali River in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. It is sustainably and ethically grown using regenerative agroforestry to create positive change for the growers, the cacao, and the earth.
